The Centennial Gala will begin this Saturday, October 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the Recreational Eagle Center (REC) on the UW-L campus. I didn’t graduate from UW-La Crosse, but I arrived there as a freshman in 1962 – when it was called, I believe, Wisconsin State College – La Crosse. I entered as a kid who had done his best through most of public school to avoid all rigors of scholarship, which meant I was supremely ill-prepared for college level work.
